The inaugural summit in June 2008 brought together 800 senior delegates including leaders, mayors, policy makers and the civil society. To build on its success, the next Summit in 2010 will offer a strategic platform comprising a high-level summit, plenary sessions, networking forums and technical workshops.</p>
<p>The theme for the second Summit is <strong>Liveable and Sustainable Cities for the Future</strong>. World Cities Summit 2010 will be a three-day event focusing on leadership and governance and building liveable and sustainable communities. Through the exchange of ideas and knowledge, cities can learn from each other to create a good environment that is sustainable and forward-looking.</p>

The Moonrise Film Festival showcases independent documentaries from the Philippines, by Philippines artists, on issues directly pertaining to the Philippines . This festival has never been to the Pacific Northwest , so please come out and support!  This collection of independent films, documenting the country&#8217;s luscious landscape and increasing danger of environmental degradation, is coming into its third year as a critically-acclaimed tradition. The Moonrise Film Festival was originally organized by the Center for Environmental Awareness and Education (CEAE), based in Quezon City, in order to address critical environmental issues facing the country&#8217;s heritage and future. It has been brought to Portlandin orderto bring awareness of the Philippines&#8217; environmental potential and peril.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">GMS was very excited to play a part in helping three area schools celebrate Arbor Day and encourage kids to take action in preserving the natural environment.  Students in five classes were given trees to take home and plant in commemoration of Arbor Day.  These new trees can be added to the millions of seedlings that have been planted since 1885 creating a unique forest planted by generations of American children.</font></p>
